Chief Inspector for Raytheon -
Rein Allikberg: Comments on Bolting:

"The bolting went pretty good. With 3050 tons of steelwork on the Cape, on a structure destined to service many rocket launches each year, and almost 300,000 bolts, there was necessarily a lot of attention paid to bolting. This was a big job for Met-Con, and they were up to it after a couple of problems at the beginning. Raytheon specified exactly how Met-Con should provide the bolts and DTI's, all from the same manufacturer, and with correct certifications by lot. In addition, we demanded that all fasteners be traceable right up to the point where they were installed."

What Could be Done Better Next Time?
"In the future, if only one lot of DTI's and maybe one lot of nuts could be provided for the project, all the field testing of bolts would have been simpler. And your SQUIRTER™ DTIs, they look like a winner for this type of job. Get them going."
