Squirter® DTI FAQs
Does a Squirter® DTI produce the same bolt tension as a standard non-squirting DTI?
Yes, because the underlying metal is identical. DTIs® and
Squirter® DTIs are the same thing, except the Squirter® has had a precise volume
of cured bright orange silicone placed under the bump. Note the ASTM F959
certification of a Lot of DTI's, whether the Squirter® style or standard
style, is the same thing.
We stipulate that, when using Squirter® DTIs, a calibration exercise be done to
determine what volume and appearance of squirted silicone equates to what
bump compression (when using a feeler gage to calibrate) or equates to what
bolt tension (if using a Skidmore to calibrate). See
SELF-INDICATING OR SQUIRTER® DTIs CALIBRATION.
