Squirter® DTI FAQs
You have oversized holes. Can DTIs or Squirter® DTIs be used?
Standard DTIs: Yes, certainly. Once the flat washer is positioned over the hole, the oversized or slotted hole then returns to essentially a standard sized hole, and the DTI is installed "outboard" or "on top of" the flat washer.The RCSC flat washer requirements with oversized or slotted holes are as follows:
| Bolt Grade | Bolt Dia |
|
||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oversized | Short Slot | Long Slot | ||
| A325 | Any | F436 Std | F436 Std | 5/16" thick plate washer |
| A490 | </=1" | F436 Std | F436 Std | 5/16" thick plate washer |
| A490 | > 1" | 5/16" F436 | 5/16" F436 | 5/16" thick plate washer |
Squirter® DTI's - are normally used directly against the steelwork and only over standard sized holes. In this case, as with standard DTI's, the normal flat washer requirements are necessary. A hole larger than standard size (1/16" over nominal) in the steelwork will not allow the squirt feature to function correctly, therefore over larger holes special flat washer requirements are necessary - please see the application advisory: Squirter® DTIs & oversized holes for additional information and "special" dimension flat washers When can you replace a flat washer with a DTI?The rule of thumb here is this -- "Where a hard flat washer is to be used over a STANDARD SIZED hole, it may be replaced by a DTI." Keep in mind, however, that at all times A HARD FLAT WASHER MUST BE POSITIONED BETWEEN THE TURNING NUT AND THE DTI BUMPSYou may also be interested in viewing:
